Death
Received the news that my secretary's mother passed away last night after just about 3 weeks of being diagnosed with liver cancer. This few days have made me wonder what life is all about. Have been following up with her for the past 3 weeks when they just found out that their mum was diagnosed with cancer and how they can never find the right time and the courage to tell their mother about this. She never have the chance to know anyway when she breathed her last last nite.
Life is so unpredictable. Never in her children's wildest dream that their mother would go before their father who has been bedridden and nursed in a local nursing home for the past 1 year. I remembered last year when her father's condition was critical, they even made all the neccessary arrangements for his burial and all that......Life.....quoting Forrest Gump " Life is like a box of chocolate, you will never know what you will be getting inside"
Sigh........
I am going to the funeral parlour tomorrow for the paying of last respect....On this, i was asked a question: "eh, can u go to a buddhist funeral parlour ah since you are a christian?"
There is no place a Christian should not go.
On another death news, we have just lost a very elderly and committed priest (Fr Joachim Pang) on 13 July 2007. His funeral was yesterday and the church was filled to the brim. So, who say you will have no one to send you off if you die a single person??

A follow-up to the *#&^$ service people
Allow me to do a follow-up of my entry on the *$#^ service people. I just found it so funny and hilarious this time...
Ok, shortly after that stupid man calling me rubbish hang up the phone, 2 of his colleagues came to see me and pass me the questionaires (it's a 24-page form all in BM with a tiny puny translation to english at the bottom) to be forwarded to several selected residents to complete and return to them. They came on a Wed and demand to have the forms back by Thursday....Is this stupid or not??? Anyway, I told them I am going to give the residents until the following Monday to return. They agreed and left. Note: I wanted to LOL when they handed me the list of selected residents. All the selected ones are expat...that's not the end, people
Thurs, Friday & Monday - without fail, they called and asked for the forms...my staff called the residents to follow-up and apparantely all the residents have difficulty in completing the forms (obviously) and requested the officers to visit them for explanation.
I called the lady and told her that the residents have given consent for them to interview and boy, was she thrilled...Since I was cheeky that day, before I put down the phone, I said" Oh another thing, they don't understand BM at all and you need to talk to them in English." At that moment, her tone changed and she said not even one word? I said no and she reluctantly say ok, I'll try and get someone who can converse in English to call them.
This morning....she called me again...This is just too fun I have to turn into a dialogue mode:
Lady: Ms papercrazy, can we take back all the forms from you?
Me: I don't have the forms. They are with the respective residents and you can get it back when you go and talk to them
Lady: Oh, it's ok now...We decided not to go anymore cos our project has ended. So, we don't need your residents' feedbacks anymore
Readers, the deadline of the project is 31 JULY 2007
Me: Oh izzit? So, you didn't call them at all?
Lady: No need....We have completed our survey.
and the rest of the uneventful conversations goes on
2 things I have gathered from this:
1) The project has not bladdy ended...They are just freaking terrified to call the residents cos they flunk deep down in their English. Am just wondering how the non-english speaking people can actually get themselves a place in the Gov't departments?? I am really puzzled....
2) The guy who called my report Rubbish should be pardoned cos obviously he don't understand what Rubbish means!! He must have learnt that word from watching Disney Channel or Discovery and said "Hmm...that's nice word to use..I'm going to use it and make myself so cleber"

Wisma Saberkas - the many reasons to go there
Wisma Saberkas has never been a popular shoppping haven for tourists but you'll be suprised how much it can attracts locals like me....
It has always been one of my favourite Saturday lunch hangout merely because I can do lots just over 2-3 hours there...and the free parking is a bonus too (though it's always full and you have to drive round and round and round the complex until you reach the toppest floor before you can find one....
This is what I've done over the weekend just at one shopping complex:
1) Lunch @HongKong Noodle House - This has always been A's favourite eatery and their recent implementation of member's dicsount card give him more reason to eat there...The noodles are great and so it the roasted duck...For those who is not from Kuching, this is similar to the roasted duck/chicken restaurant at the corner of Sg Wang Plaza.
2) Handphone Browsing - Saberkas is one place where you can actually go from Level 1 all the way to the top level and and at every level, you will find at least 1 shop selling handphones. Stopped over my regular shop to buy my handsfree and I fell in love with one Nokia brand...Need to find reason to change my old Nokia 6670...
3) Impulsive Specs purchase - Stopped over my regular optician (there is only one there) and did a very ad-hoc decision in making a pair of specs....Got myself a frameless specs..yay!
4) Paying a courtesy visit to my one and only crafts supplier in Kuching, Techno Graphic - I can never go in and come out empty handed, so normally if I have nothing in mind, I'd rather not go inside cos I'll end up buying all the papers and materials that I have already had at home...
5) DVDs shopping - Your visit to Saberkas will not be complete if you did not pay a visit to the localpirated dvd store....I was there looking for a Keith Urban's CD for my dad (and yes, they pronounced it right!)
6) and finally, off to the supermarket at the lower ground floor..
7) Oh yes, don't forget my main purpose for my visit last Saturday, took a photo of the building.
So, imagine how many things one can do at Wisma Saberkas....
Apart from what I have listed, Wisma Saberkas is also a good place to shop for computers and its peripherals as well as salons....
There are more salons then the rubbish bins at Wisma Saberkas, ranging from the highly sophisticated hairdressers to just an apek at the lower basement corner shoplot..Prices ranges from RM20 to RM5 per haircut...
There you have it...Now you know why i like Wisma Saberkas so much....

07.07.07
What a nice date....I know that's tomorrow but the kiasuness got the better of me and decided to post it before anyone did.
What does 7 July 2007 symbolise apart from the triple 7s? For one, I know it's somebody's 7th wedding anniversary :-)
Another memorable event would be the birthday of papercrazy! Yupe, papercrazy is going to be 2 years old at the stroke of midnight tonite....I don't have to repeat what was mentioned in papercrazy's 1st birthday write-up about how I was inspired to start this blog and have been writing ever since......
Happy Birthday dear old papercrazy!
July seems to be a very good month for lots of occasions.....Many tied knots in July and apparantely this good month does not apply to just humans....A neighbour across the road just brought in abitch female dog and the majority of the male dogs in our neighbourhood have been very busy attracting her and showing her who is the man......The howling and barking will continue till midnight and I have to use extra pillows to have my ears covered...however, it has been pretty quiet the last few nights and I was told later that the the female dog has finally gave her paws in marriage to one of my neighbour's dog...
July will also be a busy month for me merely because I shall be attending several trainings towards the 2nd half of the month and I just heardover CNN that my aunty and the whole entourage will be visiting Kuching early August....An ad-hoc hospitality committee has been formed and the 1st meeting has just been conducted a week ago....and guess what, I might not be around the time they arrive!! Seriously, this is mere coincidence and it is definitely not doen on purpose...I am such a hospitable person to avoid them in such a cheap way! Anways, they will be here for 2 weeks and I'll sure get to meet them when I come back
Oh yes, my parents will be celebrating their wedding anniversary in July as well. Not sure what they have in mind this year....we shall see later, shall we?
Have a good weekend people!
