Decisions, Decisions

Sigh......I am conpius......maybe you all can help me to make a wise decision...

Ok.....U all know I got a new laptop to replace my Compaq Pentium 100 (laugh at myself)???? Ok, story is like this....When this compaq was thrown at me some donkey years ago, I bought a printer lah and as usual, I went for Epson and any fool will know a compaq pentium 100 mada ada itu USB port, so I bought a parallel port punya......I happy happy use (not really happy lah cos printing a page took me at least 20 minutes (lagi worst if got pixs punya) Now, that I got my laptop, another fool will sure know laptop mana ada parallel port punya..So, u now understand my problem?

Last time : Pentium 100 + Parallel port printer = usable but slower than a tortoise on a sleep walk

This time: high speed laptop bangsa centrino + parallel port printer = Tahi also tidak dapat print

This is where my headache comes in:
Planned to buy a new printer. (epson C67) since buying the converter (USB to parallel) is not worth it. The cheapest is RM65....might as well buy a new printer rite??

Then, if I buy a new printer, what am I suppose to do with the old printer?? After several sleepless nights, I decided to buy first and worry later...So, come Saturday, I went to look for printer and to my horror, I was told that the model that I want is lousy (the ink easily dries up after a few days of idle)

Now, I don't know what I want liaw.......perhaps u all can help me in making a wise decision....

Ok, your reply to me will be "Why do I want to buy Epson C67? Buy other brand lah, u moron"

My reply to you lei "Because that's the cheapest epson printer with very nice resolution and suits my card printing!"

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9 Weird things

Thanks to Chen, I have just been tagged by her during the hari raya hols. Am asked to write about the 9 weird things about myself....Can't really think straight cos I'm still suffering from the curry & lemang deficiency, but will try my craziest best lah hor..

Here goes:

9 weird things about myself.

1) I can't take hot and spicy food but I'm addicted to laksa

2) I only eat long beans that are finely chopped and fried with egg....any other way of chopping or cooking is unacceptable

3) I am not afraid of dying and I don't mind if I were to die tomorrow (Tot I heard someone saying ochipala again!)

4) I will go all the way out to get things that I wanted but the moment I've got it, I will just tossed it aside.

5) I don't regret over life but I usually regrets over things that I bought. Refer to Item 4. I will go all the way out to get something and once I've got it, it's off to the shelf.

6) I always get goosebump whenever I listen to classical music ( and I love classical music)

7) I love buying things for people. Whenever I go holiday, I will never enjoy my trip to the fullest unless I have bought gifts for my family & friends

8) I love buying watches but never use them

9) I'm a messy person. I can never keep my workstation tidy for one single hour. As a matter of fact, I love being untidy....I can never work in a clean environment

Aiks....have I reached the 9th weird thing about me self? Since you all like to know how weird I am, I shall continue...

10) Am never good in listening to instruction and love to break rules. (Ok, ok, not to the extent of going against the National Security or ISA) See, people say 9 things, I go beyond

11) I have a XX-year old unwashed companion (Can't reveal it's age.....she's a shy person. Panglima, U quiet ah)

12) I grow up on condensed milk.

13) I am not a fighter. The moment I start a quarrel, I'll cry first (How to fight like dat??)

14) I like and can eat everything in a pig except the brain.....

15) I used to get tipsy over a can of shandy

16) I don't like to be tied down on installments or prepayments. (I supp that answers why I never get to buy a house....ok, with exception to my car lah...)

17) I normally pay the credit card company more than what I should be paying

18) I can never sit in a room without starting a conversation with anyone (of course, it's a different story lah if I'm alone)..I'd rather die than sitting next to somebody without talking.

19) I love working......(Weird or not? Thank God Hari raya holidays were only 2 days, else I'll die of boredom)

20) I love answering questionaires and I guess it includes tags too......Anymore tags??

There......20 weird things about me self.....Not going to tag anyone cos I love breaking rules....

of food and of food

Sorry for the semi-hiatus status.....Was busy and am still busy but I guess I would not be doing you all justice if I did not post something before the long hols....Well, not really long exactly but hey, beggars cudn't be choosers...It's a WORKING DAY for us Sarawakians and honestly I'm glad that the state government did not declare a holiday cos I don't like long holidays...Makes me dizzy.... Neverthless, this is what I have intended to do over the 2 days holidays:

1) Sleep late
2) Making a raya visit to one or two houses (and my lunch is settled)
3) Make christmas cards
4) Bake some char siew puff/beef cornish/chicken pie (substitute of bake = buy)
5) Sleep late
6) Make some sample wedding stationeries
7) Blog (??)

Let's start the day by making you all drool on your pc and yr stomach growl like a faulty hard disk

(Note: Beware of long post cos this is a..............long post lah :-)

FRIDAY

Was invited to a wedding reception at Hilton. Since my office is just a stone throw away from Hilton and my meeting finished late, I've decided not to go home. Instead, I went for a hairdo and had my long and silky frimsy looking hair curled. I have mixed reactions from friends and enemies alike... but I guess at the end of the day, I m better off with straight hair.

Anyway, dinner was great, wine was served and we ate to our hearts content...One complaint tho....I was basically lost as far as understanding of languages are concerned. Everything was in Mandarin. The MC spoke in mandarin, the singers sang in mandarin, my fellow tablemates spoke in mandarin and at one stage, I was so tempted in ordering Sunquick mandarin oranges drink.....but thank goodness for my secretary who acted as an interpreter that nite.

SATURDAY
Went to Casa Davide for dinner to celebrate the usual long overdue birthday dinner of our pal. Can't reveal the age thou. All I can say is that she's forever young!

Food and service just so-so but David (the owner) is a nice man. Mine came last (tho mine was the easiest among all the mixed grill and marijuana, marinara) but I must commend on david's professionalism. He must have heard us talking and complaining cos he was behind the open bar all this while in his fisherman's hat and casual wear. We did not realise that that was him until he came to our table and apologised on the delay. Anyway, to cut a long story short, my 2nd drink was on the house!! (Damn, I shud have ordered a vodka...heheheh...just kidding, I don't drink vodka)

mixed grill

my carbonara

A friendly man and sure earned a brownie point from me for being such a dear! Oh, David, just in case u reading this, perhaps u cud increase the portion of the mixed grill....It's kinda small, actually, or maybe because we are all growing up kids and big eaters....:-) and yes, I forgot to mention, we were given 20% discount and charged an additional RM1.50 for mineral water that we did not order....but we were to high to go to our next destination to notice the small amount

2 guys were seating next to us and they were busy snapping away photos and all that. My royalty even suggested that they cud be bloggers too and asked me to go and introduced myself! bleks!

After the dinner, and since we are living in a multinational country and it was so happened that Saturday was deepavali, we decided to travel from italy to india for our muruku and pappadam.
Went to Sri Shan Curry house and had our 2nd meal there....Had roti cheese, roti pisang, a plate of muruku and a plate of pappadam. Is it or is it not our lucky day...First, it was the 20% discount and the free drink, and here, we had the muruku, on the house too!

Noticed the hanging fork & spoon??? Somebody insisted that he wanted to be featured in my blog but i refused to take his pix....

Oh, I learnt something new that night....the roti goes well with condensed milk........So, condensed milk is not only for making milo or coffee or horlicks....it works well with the indian food too.....

What Life is all about

Sometimes I wonder, why is there always a sadness after happiness and vice versa? Is this what life is all about?? I have people questioning as to if God is ever merciful, why is there suffering and death? My reply? God has reason in everything He does....U might not be able to understand now but in time, u will...Refer to John13:7

Anyway, my maternal stepgrandma has decided to call it a day after almost 2 years of struggle against breast cancer. Being an early bird, she took the 1st flight, ie 12 midnight. Might sounded cruel but I guess it's a blessing that God decided to take her home. She has been struggling and suffered so much. Being a nice lady, she doesn't even deserve all this pain and sufferings.

They are yet to fix the date of the funeral but pa and ma are flying back tommorrow....It's sad to note that I have no recollection of her until our last trip back in May for her birthday. That was the 1st time I got to see her and talk to her...Read it here about her birthday celebration.

Rest in peace, sleep well Ah Ma....I know u must be at peace now and very much relieved of all the sufferings that you have gone through. No one and I mean no one can understand how much u suffered throughout these years......

I'm sorry I don't really get to know you all this while but meeting you on your birthday was the happiest memory I'll ever had and will cherished forever.

You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith (2Timothy4:7)

My diagnosis

I've been so restless of late, I can't think straight, my mind doesn't seem to be working right and I just couldn't find the energy or the strength to blog, what more to say, thinking of what to blog.....

At first, i thought I'm just suffering from a writer's block of which I appreciate all your concerns and suggestions in ways to unblock the poor writer trapped in my mindless mind....

I've decided that I have had enough suffering and it's not fair to all my loved ones, that I finally gathered my much needed strength and courage to checked myself in to a private hospital to have a check-up and the worst is expected....

(sigh)

(sigh)

(sigh)

I'm suffering from a very rare disease called blockedbloggingistis..........No doctors in Kuching can help me....I need to get treatment soonest possible as my condition is deteriorating......I may still be able to type short posts but was told that the final stage wud be a total clean-up of idea and by then, I will have no ability to blog and can only read other people's blog.

heheheheh.....sorry lah for this very lame joke but I am really runing out of idea...(tot I heard somebody scolding me ochipala??)

Sorry folks for the long absence in posting...My mind is so occupied with our upcoming big project (No, I'm not doing the what's for dinner card at the moment)...I shall be very busy between now and mid November, so please pardon my lack of posting....but then again, I might be able to squeeze some time to blog........never know.....

Hazy Card

Look what I've created in my cards & gifts section:

White

Grey

The picture is printed on a card with a layer of vellum (tracing) paper on top to give it a double layer effect. Did not realise the significance of this card with the hazy weather until I try to take a pix of it. I was adjusting the camera and all that when A walked over my desk and look at my card. What came out from his ever-chirpy mouth was "What's the point of taking photo in this hazy weather?" I cudn't make up what he said until I have a closer look at my card and I burst out laughing. Don't u think the picture of the mosque look so blur from the effect of the vellum paper as if it's in a very hazy condition???

Talking about the right card for the right ocassion/weather!!!

Ahhhhhh..the rain

Whenever I see the rain, the song "I can See Clearly Now" comes into my mind...And thank God for the rain on Saturday and this morning. A breath of relief to most people in Kuching.

Doesn't help much but hey, let's be thankful

Got the lyrics here. I know this is quite and old-timer song and I get to know this song after watching Antz.

Artist: Johnny Nash
LyricsSong: I Can See Clearly Now
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
That's all for me today....I'm suffering from writer's block...

*Knock my head against the wall to unblock the writer trapped in my head*

A dinner, 3 friends and an insult

What was supposed to be a no-frill, friends-get-together dinner was turned into an insult at the end of the dinner which causes me sleepless nights and disturbed mind.

Read on......

A dinner & 3 friends

Went for dinner with Junoesque & T at Topspot. Dinner was great and we had a good laugh and we sat there for hours and the parking cost me RM3!!!

Let's talk about the good part first. Check out what we had (Boy, i seriously hope we are hepatitis-free else we sure gonna be in deep shit. Anyway, I'm not):

Deepfried oyster omelette. T & my favourite. Because of you this, we insisted on eating at Topspot (despite the haze) cos they serve very good oyster omelette. Would you believe that T & I finished the whole UFO size omelette? Junoesque saw how desperate we were in fighting the bigger piece she decided to pull out and let the 2 of us have the whole thing

Butter prawns.

Deepfried Soft-shelled crabs. This is really very very nice though J & T claimed that it was too salty. So, Malau & Pinkcotton, if you think the softshelled crabs at Lok Thian is great, wait till you try this. It's heaven.
Hah! The half-open crams clams fried in ginger, lemon grass and soya sauce. Note to the #*&%&$^ tourist: Yes, you food copycat moron, it's soya sauce, no special sauce whatsoever...and I hope you get hepatitis (cannot, too mean) stomachache after eating all the food last nite.

We wiped out clean everything on the table except for a piece each of the crabs, prawns and deer meat.

No one can guess how ridiculously cheap our dinner was last nite. The above 4 seafood dishes plus midin and stirfried deer meat and some discounts on Junoesque's royalty membership card, it cost less than RM85!!!! You don't get this price if u dine without Junoesque, mind you. So next time if you feel like splurging on seafood but could only afford a dinner of kolo mee, please bring along Junoesque but....but (of course, there's a but), you have to bring me too cos I'm not going to give you Junoesque's contact....Acting as a middle woman lah.

And yes, it's the same stall that I blogged before.

Junoesque in her new bracelet

Ok, now the next part:

The Insult
I am still fuming hot even as I typed this...anyway, 2 couples (caucasians, obviously tourists as claimed by that *&$& woman) were searching and surveying for food to order when they came across our table and T being the hospitable lot started to chat with her and introducing to her all the dishes that we had and obviously she ordered the same dishes as ours!

We ate, they ate, we talked, they talked, we laughed, they laughed, the men smoked, we don't, they called for the bill, we still talked.....(and no, though we wish they will, they did not pay for our bills)

Being the polite tourist in the land of the hornbills where food is cheap and glorious, where the monkeys eat together with the human beings, where the human beings stays on top of a tree, where their currency is 4 times larger than ours, where where where (ok, ok, stop it, papercrazy!!) , they came to our table to thank us for introducing them all the glorious food....after several thank yous, goodbyes and enjoy your meals/holidays, guess what was the lady's parting word to me????????

In her very caucasian slang "oh, u better stop eating now, you r getting (with hand gesture some) fatter!

Can't really remember the exact word but it's something to that effect

I was SHOCKED in capital letter!!!

FAT? Excuse me, FAT???????? Why, of all nerve, calling me FAT as in F-A-T??? Obese, corpulent, gemuk, pui, fei!!!!!!!

It did not drown on me what she exactly said until she left and Junoesque started to laugh out loud!

I would have walked up to her at the lift lobby and ask her to repeat what she said if it's not because I was too shock to move.......Maybe she tot that was suppose to be compliments in the land of the hornbills, where food is cheap and glorious, where the monkeys eat together with the human beings blah blah blah (yeah, u got it)

I weigh myself and I don't think I'm obese or even fat for that matter.....I might be a shortie but that doesn't entitle me a fatso!! I'm depressed now...

Tell me, is 45kg for a 5ft tall cute little petite girl with innocent look considered FAT? On 2nd tot, I think T is to be blamed for all this. Without his ever-hospitable character, we wouldn't get to know the tourists and I wouldn't be insulted then. Thanks T for making my day! Duh! We should have just be typical malaysians when they asked us about the food, acted aloof and pretending we don't understand what they were saying.

Saw them walking on the road as I drove down from the carpark....If it's not because I'm a good Catholic, I would have rammed into the curb and knock them off!!! (hehehe..just a thought lah, I don't think i deserve to be locked up in jail over a silly remark!) but I would have wind down my window and shouted to her that I am not fat if it's not because of the quick moving traffic then.

See what I received in the mail today

"It is better to give than to receive"

"The more u give, the more you will receive"

I've always believed in the above sayings.......I love to give pressies to people and will normally find an occasion to do so, be it birthdays, anniversaries or even 1k hit, but of course it has to be somebody dear to me lah, I don't give things to strangers...and I normally get something in return, be it in kind of otherwise (but not money lah). I'll only get cash in return of my buying the 4D.

I can tell you of a dear friend who has never failed in giving me pressies for my birthdays, christmas and whenever she goes holiday....any kind of presents u can think about...from food to decorative items to nice cute lil panties to just anything you can think of. And of course, I reciprocate lah whenever I go elsewhere....check out what I bought her for her birthday at the end of this post

Anyway, without further ado, let's see what I got in the mail today:

A pressie from Andy in US. Knowing my addiction for craft materials, I was the 1st person he thought of when he came across the punches...U don't get the 3-corner fiskars punch in Kuching and boy, am I glad to receive it...It's not cheap at all, mind you!

There's a lil note that says "Hi, Hope you can use these with your cards! Signed, Andy"

Note: Andy is my one and only e-pal and we have been e-pals for almost 10 years! Who says you can't go home (eh, sorry, that's Bon Jovi's song). Who says u can't have e-pal for such a long period of time??? Thanks so very much Andy! *hugs*

Since we are on this, have I told you lately (aiyah, why song again...Sorry, Rod Stewart, no time for soapy song) Have I told u that I've got some more gifts from my parents' visit to NZ? Here goes:

Stickers and Fiskars tool from daddy, mummy, aunty and cousins

Necklaces and bracelets from Mummy for chey2x, me and mei2x. Chey2x and I benefited more from these cos mei2x was not interested

Ink pad from Brother Bear

Ok, enough of the receiving. Let me show you what I have given my chey chey for her 7th wedding anniversary:

A nice butterfly hair clip from Korea

And in return, she treated me to this for lunch just now:

Mushroom and Ham Fusilli at Elephant

and this is what I'm giving my dearest closest lesbian friend Junoesque for her birthday. I shall only be giving her tonight so I hope she's not reading my blog now(which I doubt cos she's reading it on a daily basis) (Yeah, I know her birthday was over but we did not get to meet each other due to our tight schedule lor....so we are meeting for dinner 2nite to celebrate her chinese birthday which is 2moro, Mooncake Festival)

Bracelet from Korea

That's about Giving and Receiving and my only wish now is to receive this:

(Those on my msn would have noticed it) :-).

It's Hero Arts flower rubber stamps (a pack of 5)

I know, I know, it's too early to put up a wish list for Santa (I hope Santa has a broadband connection in North Pole and are reading my blog too)..Nevertheless, I'm just taking the safety measure, just in case he doesn't have broadband and assuming that he checks his mail only once every 2 months, he will still get my wish list before Christmas. A note to Santa: Hey Santa, u can get this from Singapore (SGD43.50) or Papier in KL (RM135.00) Love u Santa!!!

On a separate note, "accidentally" typing title of songs in my blogs suddenly reminded me how we used to use song title to write letters to friends during my secondary years....Those who came from the same era as me would have remembered it......

We even got words made out from name of countries like France, Italy and what else..

F - Friendship

R - remains

A - and

N - never

C - can

E - end

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Those were the days of pinafores and piggytails

Hazy post

Seems like haze issues have been the hottest topic in the coffee shops, the newspapers, the internet and this has made the situation worst with more hotspots!!!

Anyway, what was written in the papers yesterday upsets me to the very core. It said the API has improved and rain should be here in another week or 2, thus no immediate action is neccessary for the time being....

What are they trying to say?? No cloud seeding cos sooner or later we'll get rain??? Hello???? Knock knock??? What should we do between now and 2 weeks time? And what if the rain decides to chicken out??

Several of my friends (and that includes the pinky creature that rolled and tossed in bed yesterday) have been getting skin and eye irritation and dry cough.....Most of the kids I know are down with flu and cough...Poor thing!

So to all readers of Kuching: Please do not treat the hazy situation as something bad cos we don't get this so very often....It doesn't come every year like Chinese New Year or Mooncake Festival, so please enjoy the blur scenery while u can....Please lie to yourself and treat this as winter in Kuching.....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the mist and the fog.....

What? U want to see clear sky and stars and moon for mooncake festival??? Go and draw one up and paste it on your window or door....

Ok, so will u please excuse me, I need to go and bask in the sun smoke myself in haze and I'll come back smell like smoked cow...yummy.....

Another trip to Liulian Town

I know, I know, the 1st question that pop up in your mind after reading the title is "What?? Going to Liulian Town again???? Must be die die want to look for liulian!!!"

Went to Serian again (Yes, I was there last week and I was there again yesterday)....A friend even asked me whether I have a new found beau in Serian and I told her that I just bought a land (after cheating the owner) and am now building a big mansion as my weekend hideaway!!!
As a matter of fact, I should be going up there again mid Oct for an overnight camp

Anyway, enough of the craps. We went up to Serian yesterday to help out in the Parish Sale. SSVP was putting up a stall and I was asked to assist in the selling (and obviously the sale was a hit with me there....:-)

This is how bad the haze condition is in Serian yesterday:

This is our stall:

Sale was good and we had lots of fun buying and eating and laughing and of course, selling

On a separate issue, today is my chey chey's 7th wedding anniversary and the husband and her treated us to a dinner at Lok Thian last night......Being the creative sister, I made her a card.

Being a nice sister she is, she ordered buttered prawns and soft shelled crabs....Food was lousy compared to the last dinner we had there in August to celebrate a certain somebody's birthday...Maybe it's because of the the 2 wedding reception happening all at the same time..

Food not worth taking photos of except for this one:

Awww.....I forgot to put on my pink lipstick

I kept on saying it looks like a certain somebody's lips but that certain somebody denied it...(Or rather she was too high (after drinking a 9.9% wine) to deny it...
