Anyway, what was written in the papers yesterday upsets me to the very core. It said the API has improved and rain should be here in another week or 2, thus no immediate action is neccessary for the time being....
What are they trying to say?? No cloud seeding cos sooner or later we'll get rain??? Hello???? Knock knock??? What should we do between now and 2 weeks time? And what if the rain decides to chicken out??
Several of my friends (and that includes the pinky creature that rolled and tossed in bed yesterday) have been getting skin and eye irritation and dry cough.....Most of the kids I know are down with flu and cough...Poor thing!
So to all readers of Kuching: Please do not treat the hazy situation as something bad cos we don't get this so very often....It doesn't come every year like Chinese New Year or Mooncake Festival, so please enjoy the blur scenery while u can....Please lie to yourself and treat this as winter in Kuching.....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the mist and the fog.....
What? U want to see clear sky and stars and moon for mooncake festival??? Go and draw one up and paste it on your window or door....
Ok, so will u please excuse me, I need to go and

S'wak Goes Cloud Seeding Again To Battle Haze
KUCHING, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Sarawak will conduct cloud seeding to produce rain to control the haze which has hit the state again since late last month due to open burning in neighbouring countries.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan said the cloud seeding operation would be conducted as the current dry spell was expected to last until the middle of this month.
However, he could not say when it would start as it would depend largely on aircraft availability.
Blaming the sudden change of wind direction and open burning, mostly in neighbouring countries for the haze, Dr Chan, who is also state Disaster and Relief Management Committee chairman, said at the moment the hot spots in Sarawak were mostly detected in Betong and Sri Aman but were under control.
Sarawak first conducted its cloud seeding on Aug 19 in a bid to ensure that the 49th National Day celebration, which it hosted, was haze-free.
The operation which focused on battling plantation fires in the southern parts of the state proved to be successful as the celebration was haze-free.
As for the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as at 11am today, Dr Chan said seven areas in Sarawak recorded readings at unhealthy level.
The seven areas were Kuching, Sibu, Sarikei, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Kapit and Petra Jaya, he said, adding that Sibu recorded the highest level so far at 158.
He said the Sarawak Health Department had detected a rising number of asthma cases in Sri Aman, Bintulu and Kapit due to the haze problem.
An API reading of 0-51 is listed as good, 51-100 moderate, 101-200 unhealthy, 201-300 very unhealthy, 301-500 hazardous and above 500, emergency.

I don't think we get the haze on an annual basis. The last major one was in 1997. A state of emergency was declared then.

Welcome Welcome
And make sure we put lots and lots of lantern and in return, we contribute to the hazy condition!!
Jolly Good
but haze do occur every year, right? at least in Peninsular we have haze (thanks to our neighbour country and some of our own country folks for the open burning around june/july).
I still remember the 1997 (although I was not in Sarawak at that moment - still studying in KL)
